Holly Elizabeth Olsen and Adam Taylor Smith
With daughters: Olivia Alexandra and Ruby Laine Smith
Holly Olsen was born in 1977 in Alexandria, Virginia where she stayed until she was two years old. Then she and her family moved to Logan, Utah where they stayed. She grew up loving gymnastics, camping, hiking, etc. She loved growing up near both sets of grandparents and appreciated the opportunity to get to know them each week.
She always enjoyed school ever since her mother taught her preschool in the basement of their house. She attended Hillcrest Elementary School, Mount Logan Middle School, Logan High School (graduated in 1996), Utah State, Montgomery College (Maryland), and Utah State again. Her undergraduate degree is in Spanish, with an international studies minor. Her graduate degree is in second language teaching.
After high school, she went to Maryland to be a nanny for the same family (with a five-year-old girl) as her older sister, Mandy. It was a great experience where she gained independence, and learned a lot! It was there that she decided to serve an LDS mission. She had the opportunity to go to Minnesota on a Spanish-speaking mission.
One year after her mission she met and married Adam Smith (son of Linda Morse and the late Bryant Smith). They lived in Logan, working and going to school at the beginning of their marriage. After graduating, they went on an adventure to Bangkok, Thailand where Holly taught Spanish and Adam did free-lance graphic and web design. About a year later, Olivia Alexander Smith was born on August 13, 2005, and Adam started a business. Four months after Olivia was born, they moved back to Logan, where Holly finished her graduate degree and Ruby Laine was born (May 23, 2007).
Currently, they are a happy family of four. Adam’s business has become Advent Creative and keeps him very busy. Holly works part-time teaching English at USU and keeps very busy as well. We recognize how blessed we are and are grateful for so many wonderful experiences and opportunities….and we lived happily ever after!
